Community Engagement

Building stronger athletes by building stronger communities.

Strong Start believes leadership is shaped not only through competition, but through service. Our community engagement work helps student athletes grow into compassionate, responsible leaders by investing time and energy into the people and places around them.

Community engagement and leadership

At Strong Start, we believe being part of a team extends far beyond the playing field. True leadership, empathy, and resilience are built when young people invest in the world around them.

That is why community engagement is a core part of our mission. When student athletes give back, they learn that success is not only about personal achievement. It is also about lifting others up, strengthening relationships, and creating positive change that reaches beyond themselves.

How We Engage

Our student athletes participate in hands-on service and outreach that helps them lead by example while giving back in meaningful ways.

Service in Action

  • Volunteering at shelters, food banks, and community centers
  • Organizing park and facility clean-ups
  • Assisting with youth sports clinics for younger children

Partnership & Support

  • Supporting community events and local fundraisers
  • Helping with athletic facility renovations in underserved areas
  • Partnering with nonprofits for seasonal drives and outreach efforts
Each student in our program completes a set number of service hours every year, helping build stronger communities while also developing stronger leaders.

The Ripple Effect

When student athletes serve, they inspire others to do the same. That ripple effect can reach teammates, families, schools, and neighborhoods, creating stronger relationships and a more connected community. Service does not only change the place around them. It changes the people who participate in it.
